Three Things Thursday

Still working on the background of who you are, I want to hear about your teenage years. Supposedly they are the most tumultuous times of our lives. I don't entirely agree; mine were extremely fun. Yes I went through some hard stuff, but that happens every year of my life.
Three things about...
your teenage years.
1.    I played a lot of (American) football with my friends.
2.    I studied the bible, extensively. Now I just treat that as added knowledge. I’m not a crazy religious. But I feel like I understand myself because of all that God study when I was going through the 'tough' years.
3.    I home schooled…but I’m not one of those weird anti-social types. You wouldn’t know it if you met me. It just gave me a sense of purpose in life and the ability to work well on my own. I graduated a year early and then did college in three and a half years. I have a crazy work ethic, but that comes from my dad not home schooling.

So please add your own blog post to the linky below, or tell me in the comments about yourself!

Getting to Know You and My WiPs

First a question for all you readers. I'm going to host an internet meme, which is basically where I blog something, you all blog the same type of thing, and then you put your links on here so we can all share. I'll be doing it weekly for the next while, I don't know how long it will last. It will involve getting to know each other through saying things about ourselves pertaining to a particular topic. (Like what kind of pets have you owned?)

The question is...should it be 'Three Things Thursdays' or 'Five Things Fridays'? My dilemma is that three things are easier to come up with, but most people don't blog on Thursdays. (And I'm stuck on the alliteration so that can't change.) So state your opinion, and if that includes a different alliterative idea, go for it!

Ok, onto my works in progress. I've had this bar to the right ------> for a while now. It indicates that I'm 107% finished. I'm pretty proud of that. I told myself I would write five short stories in two months, and I did. And you know what? With each one I got better.

I really enjoy writing short stories. Because they are so small they give me a sense of accomplishment while I'm in the middle of writing a novel. Otherwise I feel bogged down by the fact that I'll never, ever finish. So I pull an idea out of my insanely busy head and type it up. A lot of my short stories come from inspiration around me. Like people I see on the train or in a coffee shop. They are always character driven. And they tend to run just one or two pages long.

Now I need to take this pile of short stories I have, really fix a few up, and start submitting to magazines. Anybody have any advice on that?

Do you like an answer when you comment?

I have opened a poll on the side of the blog. I'm wondering if you like answers to your comments. Some comments of course don't really need an answer. But some do. If you are a new follower and you leave a comment, do you like to hear from the blog writer or is that annoying? Do you come back and check the comments to see if the blog writer has answered you there, or do you click the box that says you can receive emails of consecutive comments? Would you like an email from the blog writer if he/she feels the need to answer you? Would you like to see blog posts answering comments or questions every once in a while?

I'm not saying I would answer every single comment. I don't want to be fake. If I were to answer them it would be a sincere answer that I felt the need to say. But I feel like some of you start a conversation with me and I don't hit the ball back. So I want to see exactly what you think. I'll leave the poll open for two weeks, maybe a month. I need some substantial feedback to make my decision on this. And feel free to leave comments!
