Book Club Themed Flapper Party

We had sooooo much fun at the book club party. We all dressed up and had macaroons and martinis. It was truly swell. I'll let the pictures tell the story.

We had a lot to talk about concerning the book. There were a few people who hate Ernest Hemingway. A few people thought his mistress planned it all while other thought she was innocent. We all agreed that it was overall a good book. We discussed some of the other history around Hemingway and his psyche. There was a lot to talk about besides just having fun dancing around and dressing up.

Family Visit Photos

Here are some of the photos from my family visit. The first week was just us girls and we went to Baden-Baden and the Alsace region of France. It was a complete blast. We happened upon two very wonderful pensions to stay at, and had a lot of fun. We also took the girls to Frühlings Fest on the last day. Junk food galore, let me tell you. Then the guys showed up for another two weeks, I'll post those photos later.

My mom said she visited 'little people houses' when she was a child. We searched and searched, and randomly found something like them. Though not the same according to her. With these you put a euro coin in a machine and the waterworks, train, and gondola all moved for about ten minutes. It was excellent.

My mom and her friend Linda from college. We teased her relentlessly about the 'little people houses' for the next two weeks. It seemed like she was just describing a fantasy dream but hen we found these!

We visited an Abbey ruin. Yes, my mom laid down in the tomb/trough thing. Linda had the hardest time getting her out because I was just standing there laughing.

My mom and sister on the Frühlings Fest swing ride. Of course then Squeaker was begging to swing so we had to find her some rides.

She rode the tiny Deutsche Bahn train with my sister. But her favorite was the pirate ship that moved in a big circle. She's fearless.

My mom wrote the sweetest blog post about staying with us. My sister is waiting to write her blog post until I send these pictures. I'll post about the other two weeks later.

The Winner! and Paris

Quick note: my mom told me that my grandparents, who were married in Notre Dame, were married on April 11. And I didn't know that when I made Notre Dame the calendar for April, so awesome.

Now some pictures from our trip to Paris this last weekend. I have never been into photographing doors or buildings, but I found some beautiful doors and buildings that inspired me on this trip.

This was my third trip to Paris and I still have not been to the top of the Eiffel. We found my brother-in-law, who was there on a high school trip, and went with them to the second level of the Tower. But the third level was closed for an hour because of too many people! We had to go back down because we were going on a boat ride and couldn't wait. Next time, maybe.

Geneva Car Show

Geneva is five hours away from where we live. It's not a particularly pretty drive, except for the fact that I got to see mountains for the first time since leaving Colorado. Mountains on both sides of the highway was a bit disconcerting because I'm used to the mountains being to the west, not all around me. It was strange to watch the road signs and billboards change from German to French as we neared the French border. And that was within the one country of Switzerland. We actually ended up in French Geneva at one point so now I can say I drove through three countries in one day. Onto the photos. I'm posting the 'green' cars today in honor of St. Patty's. I'll post the others tomorrow.

First is the Ferarri. Then the Lamborghini Superleggea, the first Lamborghini I've liked since the Diablo. Then some awesome alien-like car. I wanted to touch it. And how the entire sides come up as doors, how cool is that?
