Well, I must say my goodbyes now. At least for the next few weeks. We are moving into the new apartment and we won't have internet for who knows how long. I will have to unveil my fun surprise in the new year.
Welcome to my new followers by the way!!! I'm at 90. I'll have to come up with something fun when I reach 100. Hopefully that doesn't pass me by while I'm pondering what to do.
And the answer this week is
hedgehogs!
They are just the cutest things (although I hear they stink). And I'm still waiting to see one here in Germany. Albert saw one when we first got here crawling in the parking lot.
Til I have internet...have a good new year!

Word of the Week
Welcome to Word of the Week!!! I hope you all had nice holidays. I was reading up on Boxing Day (we don't do that in the U.S.) and think it's a really great idea. I never knew what it was about. I always thought it literally meant boxing, like Muhammad Ali style. But then I could never figure out why Canada and the U.K. celebrate boxing. Now I know, one gift for me, one gift for someone else. Maybe I'll go shopping on Boxing Day next year and see if the crowds here in Germany are as bad as Black Friday in the U.S.
Anyways, on to the game! These four pictures have one thing on common. Guess what that is in the comments. You can click on the picture to see the item, or you can click on the shop names to see the shops. Have fun! I'll post the answer tomorrow.

Paris
We went to Paris for our second anniversary. It was really, really cold. We stayed in a cute hotel in the Latin quarter and visited all the big monuments. Albert said the Mona Lisa is smaller than you would think, which is true. And the Eiffel is rather rusty. Versailles is absolutely beautiful and I can't wait to go back in the summer when we can wander around the gardens.
My big project is ready to reveal, but now it's nearly Monday and we get to play Word of the Week again. So just after that I will show you what I've been cooking up.
Day 89 - Paris rooftops
Day 90 - My new home, Versailles
Day 91 - A beautiful lady
Day 92 - My grandparents were married here

The Answer and Winner
Thank you everyone so much for playing. Word of the Week happens every Monday, so come back and play. And it looks like we'll be having another give-away soon...
The answer this week was
paisley
and our winner was Nikki 'Trexel' Moore from if1hadwords.
Have a good weekend everyone; it's rather soggy and rainy here in Germany.

Word of the Week - GIVE-AWAY!!!
This week is a give-away. Which means that every correct answer will go into a pot, and I will use Random.org to pick a winner. Crown Bindery is providing the prize this week. It's the binder that was featured last week, the one I ended up purchasing! I'm going to use it for my German classes and all the nouns I have to memorize.
So these four pictures have one thing in common. Guess what it is in the comments and you'll be entered in the drawing. You can click on the photos to see the items, and you can click on the shop names to see the shops.
I will leave this give-away open until Friday when I will post the answer.

The Book
I'm through the first edit of the book I wrote in November. It's all situated and in the right order. I just have to fill a few holes and finish the ending. It's really coming together nicely. Now I just have to worry about finding an agent. Anybody have any tips?
I thought I'd give you a little snippet from the very beginning. Let me know if you like it!
The fluorescent light reflected in her big, brown eyes. She gripped the edge of the bed and gritted her teeth against the pain. Her indifferent mother watched from the chair in the corner. Her father held her hand with his head turned away.
“You’ll be just fine, Sweetheart. Just fine,” he said.
“No one can survive this,” she whispered.
“I did. You’re here, aren’t you? This is the consequence for what you did. It felt good at the time, didn’t it?”
“Margaret, hush. You’re making her worse,” her father berated her mother. The sheets soaked up her sweat and turned a funky yellow color. She didn’t think she could handle the next onset of intense pain. As her back relaxed, she settled into the pillows and rubbed her hair away from her eyes.
“Is there some water?”
Her father handed her the glass with the straw. Dragging on the liquid with a severe sucking noise, she swallowed quickly before the next contraction hit her. While she struggled against the clenching muscles, her mother stood and left the room. In just a few minutes the doctor came in and flipped up the sheet. He probed between her legs and snapped off his gloves.
“You’re ready. We’re going to move you into the delivery room.”
“No, no. I’m not ready. This can’t be happening. I’m not ready. Mama, please. It hurts so much. Please don’t leave me. I don’t want to be alone.”
Her mother patted her arm and walked alongside the bed. Her hard-as-steel eyes stared straight ahead. Before her mother could stop walking, she grabbed her sweater and held on for dear life.
“Please come with me. I’m sorry,” she sobbed, “I’m so sorry. Please don’t abandon me. Please help me.”
Her mother looked down into those wide, insane eyes and softened just a little bit. “I’ll be right here, Elizabeth. Don’t worry. You’ll get through this. You’ll survive, and then you’ll give that baby to someone else. Someone who can handle this.” She swept some stray hairs out of her daughter’s face. “Why did this have to happen to us?” she asked the air.
